SPARK is widely considered one of the most effective advocacy organizations in the country for the retirement plan industry.

Part of SPARK’s unique value lies in the communities that make up our organization. Our members are industry innovators, thought leaders and C-suite level executives that come to SPARK to achieve tangible results and move the defined contribution market forward.

As the singular voice for the industry on issues of policy, regulation and privacy, SPARK brings together leaders from all core business areas and disciplines – CIOs and senior IT leaders,  legal and compliance, audit and risk, operations, CMOs and public relations, sales, service and business development – unlike other trade groups representing a single piece.

Our organization has a rich history of establishing best practices, industry leadership, education and public advocacy to strengthen retirement security in America. We work regularly with legislators and regulatory agencies including the DOL, IRS, Treasury, SEC and the GAO, to educate them on critical issues facing our industry and shape policy positions.

Leading the industry, we help our members grow their business, shape the industry, innovate and engage with new ideas and each other. We provide a forum to share ideas, make important connections and build mutually beneficial, long-term partnerships.

Founded in 1998, the Society of Professional Asset Managers and Recordkeepers (SPARK) is a nonprofit association regarded today as a major voice influencing federal retirement policy.

SPARK is a thought leader on data security and has developed widely adopted standards for recordkeepers to report cyber-security capabilities.
